Contact me for an appointment if you need a computer tuneup, including computer maintenance, security audit and troubleshooting. Make backup copies of your data files on a CD-R disk or other removable storage medium before the tuneup begins if possible.

  • Checkups on your hardware and software to restore optimum performance. Windows software accumulates various types of electronic junk and small errors. These slow down your system and need to be cleaned out periodically.

  • Cleanup. Delete old data files that are no longer needed. Uninstall software that you no longer use.

  • Optimize startup. Many software parasites turn on automatically whenever your computer is turned on and waste your computer's resources by running constantly even when you don't need them. Shutting down these parasites allows your computer to focus more resources and work faster on the jobs that you are trying to do.

  • Software updates are also needed to ensure good security and maintain optimum performance. Some softwares can be set to update automatically, while others must be updated manually.

  • Upgrade with new hardware and software. Installation of selected new components can provide cost-effective increases in performance and extend the useful life of your current computer. Provide advice on the components you should specify when purchasing your new computer. Installation services to help you get your new equipment set up.

  • Troubleshooting hardware and software malfunctions. Take care of little problems before they become more serious.

  • Viruses, spyware and other "malware." Identify and eliminate malwares that have invaded your computer. Install and configure protection softwares to help prevent future infections. Protections needed include anti-virus, anti-spyware, firewall, secure client softwares, hardening Windows, and security awareness training for computer users.

  • Workstation adjustment to reduce stress and avoid injury. Rearranging the heights of your monitor and keyboard can be especially helpful in reducing stress and avoiding serious injuries like carpal tunnel syndrome.

  • Cleanup the dust and grime that accumulate in your keyboard, in your mouse and on your display screen.
