Mud Canyon

Mud Canyon (topo map) is in the east wall of Death Valley coming down from Hell's Gate (elevation 2262) to the valley floor (elevation ~0)(map-n). Over this range of elevations this canyon had the most diverse wildflowers of all the places we visited in the park. We found Beavertail Cactus and Cholla Cactus blooming here. We were a little too early to see the barrel cactus in bloom.
