Tenderfoot Haiku

Haiku poetry by Irene describing the first camping trip of her life at Death Valley National Park.

Packing is a chore
Long list of camp necessities
Too much luggage!

Rain beating on tent
Will wind blow me away?
Golden ager's first night in camp

Irene Irene in Mud Canyon at Death Valley National Park

Quickly vanishing
night of pounding rain and furious wind
waking to dry sun-warmed day.

Good company, good food, gorgeous scenery
Flowers too many to count
Death Valley in spring time

Irene at Cottonwood Mountains, Death Valley National Park Irene, Bruce & Betty

Hot sun burns quickly
Strong cold wind knocks me over!
Desert is tricky

Calm and serene
Timelessness of the desert
Being in the moment.

First camping experience
Pictures and stories to relate
Bragging rights earned

Wow! I did it.
Joy and pride of accomplishment
Let's do it again
